Dr Hazem Yassin is one of the pioneers of eye surgery in Egypt and the Middle East. He is a Professor of Ophthalmology at Cairo University and a Consultant of Cornea, Cataract and Refractive surgery in different hospitals. He is a respected figure in the field of Corneal and Refractive Surgery where he heads that specialized unit at Al Hayat hospital.
Dr Yassin is one of the first ophthalmologists who mastered the technique of lamellar keratoplasties and is recognized for his expertise in performing rare and intricate eye surgeries for numerous cases of difficult eye traumas. He is an invited guest and keynote speaker at numerous Ophthalmology conferences globally to educate surgeons from all over the world on iris surgeries, corneal transplantation (both penetrating and lamellar) as well as various anterior segment reconstructive surgeries.
Dr. Yassin was nominated among 60 surgeons from around the world for the Oscar Competition of surgical video film in Brussels 2000, Amsterdam 2001, Nice 2002, and Munich 2003.
